Some universities now offer their courses on the internet so that people can study online. Is this a positive or negative development?
Nowadays, online education has become more popular over the world, especially due to the covid-19 pandemic. Many universities have provides online courses for people to enroll. In my opinion, internet- based learning may have some drawbacks, I would argue that there are far more benefits.
The main drawback of online learning in university courses is the lack of interaction. Students could misunderstanding some knowledge from teachers because of not having face-to-face interaction and students just ask questions through e-mail, messages, etc. For example, some online courses are recorded before, so people who enroll in class may not have the opportunities to collaborate with teachers will lead to studying ineffectively. Furthermore, these learners may also lack face-to-face group work brings.
Despite the negatives mentioned above, online university courses have much positive development on many faces. First of all, they allow learners to study in a flexible way, meaning that they could learn what they like in a more convenient way at their own pace without any restriction. They could save a range of time for themselves because they are able to learn anytime depend on their schedules. Secondly, online education help people save a noticeable amount of money, because online courses are cheaper than offline courses due to not using any facilities. Finally, online learning offers open access to anyone who is willing to study, regardless of age, location, ability, and background.
In conclusion, though online universities courses may have some minor drawbacks, I strongly believe that this has further positive development.
