The percentage of pupils attending four secondary schools You should spend about 20 minutes on this task.

The table shows the Proportions of Pupils Attending Four Secondary School Types between 2000 and 2009. Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.

Write at least 150 words.

The table illustrates the proportion of students in four different types of secondary schools, which are specialist, grammar, voluntary-controlled and community school in 2000, 2005 and 2009.

Overall, the pupils joining in Community schools were sustainably increased throughout three-time marks, while the others had the downward trends in the number of attended students.

From the beginning of 2000, the Voluntary-controlled Schools was the most popular type of school with 52% students applied, then the Grammar schools with 24% and 12% of students for both specialist schools and community schools. In 2005, people still mainly went to Voluntary-controlled schools, despite it falling from 52% to 32%. Likewise, the number of pupils attending grammar school noticeably decreased to 38% so on the specialist schools slightly went down by 1% to 11%. In contrast, there was an increase in the students' attendance in Community schools, which remarkably went up to 32%. Finally, the Community schools continually increased by 26% in 2009, conversely, other types of schools, Specialist schools, Grammar Schools and Voluntary-controlled Schools all decreased to 10%, 12%, and 20% respectively in the same year.
