Topic :the only way to improve road safety is to give much stricter punishments on driving offenses.To what extend do you agree or disagree?
Essay:
Nowadays,many people believe that only stricter punishments will deter many motorists from driving dangerously or carelessly on the roads.However,I strongly disagree that this is the only way to improve road safety ,because there are alternative measures which would also be effective.
To begin with,no one can deny the effective of strict punishments on driving offenses. First, if the authorities have more stricter laws to control traffic jams,it will be more positive impacts on cutting down the percentages of accidents in their country.Since people usually forget or ignore that motoring offenses are crimes, the punishments will enhance the public ‘s awareness and responsibilities .As a result, they will think carefully when taking part in heavy traffic if they do not want to cause an accident because of their careless behaviors. The full weight of the law should be applied in imposing a range of non-custodial sentences such as heavy fines, driving bans...In addition, to make laws become effective and paid more attention by the crowds,the government should carry out some prison sentences for serious offenses.For example, in the UK,drinking and driving can be fined and putted in prison.
However,it is not true to say that stricter punishment is the only way to improve road safety.In real, there are some good steps to ensure residents ‘ safety when walking along the streets.First,the leaders should install speed cameras to inspect vehicles and control crashes.Moreover,holding more campaigns to improve people’s consciousness when using motorbikes,cars ... is also a great way to reduce dangers on roads in daily lives.
In conclusion,in order to improve road safety, it is not enough to be tough on traffic crimes by punishing more harshly those who violate the law .A range of road safety measures should accompany harsher driving penalties
