This is madness

Hello, I meet with a sentence: "This is madness".

I guess the word "madness" means "a mad action", am I right?

Can I also use "This is mad." to express the same meaning?

Thank you in advance.

It could also be a mad situation or decision, or just a very chaotic one... You might be able to use ;this is mad' but it might not carry quite the same meaning. 'This is madness' is often a humorous comment.

  • Also - I met/meet with a sentence.
  • This is incorrect English but we see it a lot so I suspect it's a direct translation from other languages.
