This is John Walter CEO of GM

hello,

when we introduce ourselves,

I often see a phrase like "This is CEO of GM John Walter."

I know that can be used on the phone, and also see many on the web posting.

But is it good for a presentation and an official letter?

If it's not good, what is a good expression to begin with and to introduce yourself?

Many articles give the name and position of the author underneath the title,

eg



ELECTRIC CARS IN 2010

By

John Walters

CEO of GM

I meant a case where the author introduce himself to the readers in sentences in the beginning.

For example,

I am the president of American Hamburger Association, Marcus Fancisco. It is my pleasure to blah blah~.

In such a case, can we say,

This is the president of American Hamburger Association, Marcus Fancisco. It is my pleasure to blah blah~.
