this is how/like this

Hi,

Please consider this dialogue:

A: Let me taste your coffee.
B. Here it is.
A. Wow, it is too sour.
B. This is how I drink it./ I drink it like this.

Please which one conveys the correct meaning? 'this is how I drink it' or 'I drink it like this'?

I think the second option is correct because the first one 'this is how' may mean the method rather than the state of the drink.

I tend to agree with you Although I'd use that instead of this i.e.. "I drink it like that." or "That's how I drink it" but to be honest with you we'd probably say "That's how I like it." in this scenario.

Incidently, I'm not sure sour is the right word here. I think you probably mean bitter.
