this doesn't make sense

Nearly all of the editors of the magazine agree that of the two articles to be published, Fujimura's is the more exciting.

can someone explain how that would be correct?
don't you have to say something along the lines of "Fiji...'s is the more exciting one".

You can use the sentence you suggested, I prefer the following:

"Fujimura's is more exciting."

Because the subject is the articles, you don't need to reference them again with the use of "one".
