This cottage will provide us with some shelter.

This cottage will provide us with some shelter.

This cottage will provide us with a shelter.

I assume that the second sounds more logical than the first in that a shelter is very specific. But the original uses "some shelter" and I don't have a clue of the reason. Could you shed some light? Thanks.
