This character voice line I dont understand

apex legend is a shooter game ,one of the character called"crypto" has a killing voice line that goes"he is off the GRID now"

because of the context I can understand that it means that the player is dead,buy I cant understand the use of words ,I went on google and found that grid means "a network of lines that cross each other to form a series of squares or rectangles" ,So I don't get it, can someone explain to me why that voice line makes any sense?
