I've learned I can write "thank you for this answer of yours" from this forum.
Could you check once again whether there is a wrong one among the following expressions?
1. this book of my friend's
2. my friend's book
3. a book of my friend
4. the book of my friend
5. this book of my friend
6. a book of my friend's
I think 3,4,and 5 are wrong expressions. Am I right?

- Also, the "X of my friend's" pattern is not used as much as "my friend's X", so 2 is the usual way of saying it.

Son JamesI think 3,4,and 5 are wrong expressions. Am I right?You are right. Technically they are grammatically correct, but they are not idiomatic.
Also, the "X of my friend's" pattern is not used as much as "my friend's X", so 2 is the usual way of saying it.
And 6 is commonly expressed as "one of my friend's books".
