Vocabulary

this and that

Hello,
Two of my friends were having a conversation about the LOTR movies and when the quote "Treebeard some call me." came up, one of them said: "I remember this one." I think it should be "I remember that one." He is not listening to me, though. Am I wrong?

'That' may be more common, but there is nothing wrong with 'this'. It is certainly not worth arguing about.

I don't think that "this" is grammatically correct. As far as I know, when we refer to something said or done, we use "that".

"The Two Towers" came out in 2002. Therefore, I personally think that "that" would be the better word to use, because this quote is quite old.

I think I just made a mistake by saying "this quote"

Anyway, it was not a quote in the original conversation, right? It was just the use of the name 'Treebeard'.

(Er...2002 is 'old'? I don't think so.)

Even movies that came out in 2013 are considered old by some people. Emotion: smile I can think of another quote. "All you have to decide is what
