Thiruvananthapuram/Kollam vs Thiruvananthspuram, Kollam

Dear all,

At our office we had to send a communication to District Medical Officers of 6 districts of our state. The clerk concerned wrote the address as given below. I think that the symbol "/" should be replaced with "commas" since as per my understanding the symbol "/" means 'either this or that'. But here the communication. should be send to the District Medical Officers of six districts. So the symbol "/" should be replaced with "commas" as "Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Idukki, Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Palakkad. I'd like to get your opinion on this.

"From

The Director of Health Services

To

The District Medical Officer of Health,
Thiruvananthapuram/Kollam/Idukki/
Alappuzha/Ernakulam/Palakkad."

My personal opinion is that if the slash is customary in your region, and everybody understands its meaning, it's not worth fussing over. Either slashes or commas, or even semicolons, should work.

I might ask the clerk if that's the usual way of writing those addresses and if the communications always get to their proper destinations.

But surely this is an inside address, isn't it
