I have solving question on text book and am not sure the answer. "Even though express mail costs $6.00 more, it is imperative that this contract reach our client in Montreal as soon as possible. a) reach, b) reached, c) be reached, d) reaching." The answer given in the book is a) reach, and I do agree it should be present tense, but I was thinking that it should be "reaches." Am I missing something?
Top answer
Reach is correct. It's the present subjunctive due to it's imperative followed by a that-clause. CB
