Third person singular

Should I treat 'Europe' 'the USA' or team names like:

Europe has/have
The USA has/have
A.C Milan has/have

Which ones are correct? And why? Thanks.

Top answer

Both are correct. The Brits tend to use one and the Yanks another. I've forgotten which is which, since I use either.

The tendency is thus:

has - American usage.
have - British usage.
