Third person plural with no 's' in the verb, right?

Here's the sentence I'm referring to;

"The challenges in writing a successful code with no bugs make kids push themselves relentlessly until they achieve their goal."

I think 'make' is right. Am I incorrect here?

We don't say 'a successful code'. Code is an uncountable noun, so we say

eg code

eg a successful piece of code

eg some successful code
