Think/Thought

I was doing an exercice and got a bit confused with this:
- "Did you likethe film?"
- "Yes, I ... it was very good"

I put "think", but in solutions I found "thought". Why thought? If I saw a film I think it was very good, why say that in past?

Because that was your opinion as soon as you saw it (i.e. in the past). Either answer is OK, but the second speaker might use past tense unconsciously because of the past tense of the question ('Did you...?')
