Thinking OUT OF / OUTSIDE the box

Dear,

I would like to know wether the expression is 'thinking outside the box' or 'thinking out of the box'.

Maybe both are used, i don't know.

Thank you!

I've heard both, but 'thinking outside the box' is more common. Mind you, I've also heard people say, "I literally died laughing." And no, I've never been to a séance.
