Thinking or thoughts

Could you tell me how you would correctly say this or if it even makes sense?
I had a hard time hiding what I was thinking./hiding my thoughts. She could tell what I was thinking by looking at me.

Is this correct?
She hides her emotions well.

Your sentences are all good. As a style point, I hear myself adding the word "just" before "by looking...", to add emphasis. Kind regards, Michael
