Think to myself

Hello,
If I say "I was thinking by myself or I was thinking myself, would it be wrong?

"Funny thing. Just before this weekend I was thinking to myself, 'Where the hell are all the bad movies?"

 In your sample sentence, you can't replace "thinking to myself" with anything else.
If someone says "It would be nice to go out for some icecream" and you had the same idea, you can say "I was thinking the same thing myself."
