Think of/about

I am talking on the phone and I want to thank sb for thinking about/ of me.(I was forced to moved out and this person ( I am talking on the phone) offered me a place to stay in for a while.What should I say?

Thanks for thinking about or of me?

I found both options on the Internet with no difference in meaning.

I would say think about in that context As for me think of is often used with actions or processes: think of marrying, think of going somewhere, what do you think of their offer?... it is also used to express that you though of something not a long time(or you have just though about it): I've just thought of an idea, What do you think of my shoes...

it is also used to express that you though of something not a long time(or you have just though about it): I've just thought of an idea, What do you think of my shoes...
