think of it

Is this sentence correct? I have my doubts about the use of 'think of it' and the tense.
I'd rather do it now that I think of it than do it later and risk forgetting to do it.

Thank you

now that I think of it is a common phrase. But your logic seems a bit off. I'd say I'd rather do it now that I think of it than wait to do it later and risk forgetting to do it.

Actually, the complete phrase that is used in situations like this is "now that I think of it." Some examples of usage:

Now that I think of it, I do remember that guy. He was in my high school class.

There is a short cut through this neighborhood, now that I think of it. I used to use it when I was a kid living here.

Would it not be better to say "now that I am thinking of it"?

You are thinking of something now or You think of something now?

It''s a standard phrase. Don't *** with it!

This is the standard phrase : Now that I think of it, you did the right thing.
But here I'm not using the standard phrase so that's why 'am thinking'
Do you think this is not better?
I'd rather do it now that I am thinking of it than do it later and risk forgetting to do it.

Thanks

It's not wrong, but it's not better.
