Think

I've heard 'I think I want to do it' sounds awkward, and 'I think' should be omitted.

Is it really so? Is 'I think I want to do..' not natural?

I think "I think" and "want to" are feelings.
Both contain same parts, so I think that sentence sounds a little odd.

"I think I want to do it" is very natural and very common. If someone feels you should be more certain of your own desires, they might tell you just to say "I want to do it." But in fact, most of us are not always 100% sure of what we want.

It is not [unnatural / not natural] to me.

Hence, Not to me.
