things for our camping/camp trip

We packed our car with things for our camping/camp trip, but the tent didn't fit.

Do both camping and camp fit in the above? If not, why not? Thanks.

Nope-- only camping . Camp trip could be used if a group already attending a camp took a trip together (either camping or staying in plush hotels)... but I don't think that's what you intend; you mean a trip for the purpose of camping, I presume.
