"things are star spangled" ?

Hi,

Would you explain the phrase that I underlined in the sentence below? Is it like, being protected by the Star-Spangled Banner?

I'm on my won planet at the pool, being the only American and things are star spangled.

Thanks,
M

It doesn't really mean anything, I think. He's just thinking and observing like an American (or his image of one).
