"Thingafy" doesn't appear in any mainstream dictionary. It may have had a theological origin, but as slang it can be used across various schema.

Personification = give human characteristics to an inanimate object. Perhaps thingification is the opposite, to rob a person of human characteristics = to treat a person as if he or she had nt human qualities, especially emotions.
