Their marriage hadn't been blessed yet and perhaps having a child was a blessing in itself for now.
Would you explain the above to me, please?

Are you sure you haven't omitted a word?
ie Their marriage hadn't been blessed yet and perhaps not having a child was a blessing in itself for now.
This makes more sense.
