the/zero article question

0 01font00A text without articles was given. Why isn't 01i01b00the02b02i00 article needed with the word 01i01b00chemicals02b02i00? Look at the blue text. My idea is that these chemicals are particular. Using a zero article it is assumed that a noun is plural or uncountable and that it is used as something in general (generalisation). Not any chemicals can make a picture permanent.02br
