"They're keeping everything top secret"

"They're keeping everything top secret"

Hi, did the phrase omit the preposition, "as", like in "He died a hero"?

Or does the term "top secret" work as an adverb for the verb, "keeping"?

Thank you

... does the term "top secret" work as an adverb for the verb, "keeping"?
Not an adverb — an adjective for "everything". The sentence has both a direct object (everything) and an object complement (top secret).

"keep" does not take "as" in this construction, though other verbs may do so
