They will have / they did

Had Dawkins lived at the time of the scribes who he believes wrote the bible, I am sure that he would have subscribed to the existence of God as they will have.

Which is more appropriate in this context?

I have heard many people where I live use will have to mean the same as did. I guess it is short for 'will have done'.

How are will have done and did different?

...did is a presentation of fact.
