"They have the best beaches."

"They have the best beaches."

The reason there is "the" in the sentence is because of "best" or "beach"? I have learned that we should put "the" in the phrase, "go to the beach" all the time, but in the sentence, we do not have to apply the rule, I think.

And is this noun phrase possible?

He is a best friend.

I think that it is okay if he is one of my best friends. What do you think? Thank you so much as usual in advance.

" The reason there is "the" in the sentence is because of "best". I think that it is okay if he is one of my best friends. It is certainly common, though it defies logic.

It is certainly common, though it defies logic. I would avoid it in favor of 'He is a good/close

Thank you and I know we should put "the" in "go to the beach" but isn't it possible to put "a" in front of "beach" like

I went to a beach.

I walked along a beach.

When we do not know it and do not share any information on it, I think I also can say the sentences. What do you think?

Thank you so much.

Of course, but 'the' in your sentence still applies to 'best'.
