They called it a haunted house.

Hi

Is this text fully natural? Any suggestions are welcome.

The villagers believed that it was a haunted house. They feared it and told far-fetched stories about it. Some had seen a cadaver coming out of its rusty, iron fence, others had heard creepy sounds at unearthly hours. They say, “Rumor grows as it goes.” – and this was exactly the case in the instance of the harmless Dinger House situated on the edge of the fields.

Thanks,

Tom
