I have seen many "formulas" on-line that state that a thesis is "a specific subject + specific feature or feeling = Thesis Statement."
On the other hand, the formula for a topic sentence is subject + viewpoint= topic sentence.
Would I be correct to say that a thesis statement is a very "general" topic sentence that covers covers all the topic sentence of an essay. That is, the topic sentences of each paragraph relate to it.
What would be the best way to differentiate both.
Please let me know.
"On the other hand, the formula for a topic sentence is subject + viewpoint= topic sentence. I think those definitions make it clear that thesis statement = topic sentence. Although a statement can be more than one sentence in length, they serve the same purpose.
