Thesis Statement

I'm writing a research paper on Moby Dick and I would really appreciate some constructive criticism on my current working thesis, which is:

"The relationships developed between Ahab and the Pequod crew reveal the exploitative, capitalistic relationship of the powerful and the less fortunate, respectively, and how it is procured through manipulation and deceit"

I feel like the "respectively" makes the sentence a bit... crowded? However I think it also has value in making the statement as clear as possible, I'm not quite sure.
