Thesis Question

Hi

I have just stumbled across this website which happens to be exactly what I need.

I am writing a summary of Doris Lessing's "Group Minds" article for an English class at my college. Part of this process is to write her thesis in our own words. The basic idea of the article is how people loose their individualism amongst groups, conformity, etc..

Lessing's thesis:

"We (the human race) are now in possession of a great deal of hard information about ourselves, but we do not use it to improve our institutions and therefore our lives.”

My version:

In her article “Group Minds” Doris Lessing discusses that people have an ability to make many positive changes in the world; however, their resources are often not used to improve upon society.

I've been playing with this one sentence for about an hour. It still doesn't seem right to me, but I can't figure out why. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks very much in advance!

Probably a bit late... But let me give it a shot... In her article “Group Minds” Doris Lessing discusses the ability that information gives people to make positive changes to their social environment; yet is left unused to improve their lives.

  • Does it sound better ?
  • But you've probably figured something else already anyway...
