Thank you friends.

But I still can't quite understand what "thesis" means. Is the "thesis" a part of a advanced university degree? Is this a subject, like history/economics, of an advanced university degree? I know I must be wrong.

to get a university degree you have to write a thesis (a long piece of writing on a particular subject) and defend the thesis

Do you mean if I want to apply for a studies in the university, I should pass the thesis. Then, is the thesis like a exam?

No, you write and defend thesis at the end of your studies. If you defend your thesis you get a degree for example Master of Arts/Science/Education etc

Defending a thesis is a kind of exam.

Thank you very Dominik

So if I fail in the thesis, I will not get degree certificate. Am I right?

Yes, if you don't defend your thesis you won't get your degree.
defending a thesis - you have to proof that your thesis (a kind of book which you have to write) and your knowledge are worth a university degree; You defend your conclusions, deductions, findings etc contained in your thesis

Thank you Dominik very much.

That means even if I study the whole year and get good points in the exam, and at the end of the year if I failed to defend my thesis, I will not get degree certificate. Is it correct? If yes, then I am not happy with it because there is a chance that many waste whole year if they can't defend their thesis.

If you have good marks you shouldn't worry. Your marks will count towards your final exam.
For example: 50%-your marks during studies, 25% - your thesis and 25% - defending the thesis = final mark
These metters are regulated in the rules of your school
