These three words give me trouble...

I am having problems with words: since, follow, and until.

Follow usage example

When I say A follows B does that mean A-B or B-A? In other words, what direction does something follow something else? Right to left, left to right, up to down or down to up??? It just seems to me that to use the word "follow" without giving a direction is ambiguous.

Since usage example

What does it mean to say I have not been here since X. Does that mean at the start of X to now, you have not been there? Or does it mean the last time you where there was X, but not afterwards to now.

Until usage example

If I say "I have been single until now." Does this mean that the time as of this very moment, I am no longer single?
