By the way, is qualify as in your post interchangeable with count as/are consider to be?

solar events may be considered a semi-fixed phrase in the scientific community.
I would not recommend changing it to solar affairs or knowledge about the sun, no.

Regarding qualify as -- yes, you are right.

These all [qualify as / count as / [are/can be] considered to be] solar events.
