these kinds of cars may turn/show up all over the world

The idea is to attract attention to the new invention - and to the BMW company - so that demand for the cars increases. This will give rise to increased production in hydrogen, and eventually, these kinds of cars may turn up all over the world.

Hi,
Is "turn up" in the above equal to "show up?" Thanks.

"Turn up" has about the same meaning, but with the idea of not being expected. Do you think they will show up at the party?
