These days learning foreign languages is a waste of time as computers can translate quickly and accurately. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

In this day and age, acquiring knowledge of new second languages is a fritter away lifetime because Artificial Intelligence as known as A.I. can interpret speedily and reliably. However, I totally disagree with this statement and this essay below will explain my opinion.

Depending too much on technology is not a healthy way in every case and translating languages is not an exception. It may affect your quick reflexes in words, understanding the meaning, and listening ability. And this may not be convenient like you think. Just imagine, while you talk to a foreigner and hold a smartphone to translate your conversation, this will be extremely uncomfortable and slightly impolite. Moreover, the statement in the thread is defended for your laziness when studying a foreign language. Therefore, you will not be good at understanding, speaking that language and you will feel self-deprecating.

If you can choose between interpreting languages throughout all your life and learning 2-3 years of foreign languages to speak them fluently and use your own words for the rest of your life, which would you choose? And I will choose to learn a second language. Simply because comprehending new languages will help expand your knowledge, enhance your awareness. More than that, you will understand more about other countries’ cultures and this will help you when you travel abroad.

Inclusion, depending on translation apps is not a good option when more and more people can speak global languages in these developed days. And there will have many side effects if people use too much translating applications. Besides, learning a second language brings many benefits for people’s life.
