His response - "I can't say everything. You understand? There's things I can't say

"there is things I can't say" is this correct? should it be not "there are things.."

the whole sentence becomes quite confusing when you are not cleared about the number of things you are talking about.
if you know that certain number of things were involved in doing something then you should use according to it otherwise it becomes
confusing for the listener to interpret whether you are talking about singular object of plural object.
so it is very important to have
