There/it?

Hi, I was wondering if both 'there' and 'it' can be appropriate answers for the blank below.

This is a board game for two players, it is believed to have come from India originally. ............. is a board with 64 squares, and each player has 16 pieces or men, to play with.

Thanks,
Cheers.
