There was no place for me in the car.

Hi

Would you say that the following sentence are natural?

There was no place for me in the car. So, I couldn't go.

There was no space for me in the car. So, I couldn't go.

Thanks,

Tom

They are both possible but in most ordinary situations "space" seems more likely. ) To me, "place" has more of a sense of some sort of planned seating arrangement from which you were excluded.
