There was a huge crowd gathered around the accident scene.

Why is wrong with this sentence? My teacher marked it as a mistake.

c)My teacher marked it wrongly.

Is the difference

c)My teacher did a mistake.

Why is wrong with this sentence? My teacher marked it as a mistake.

Nothing. But 'around' is not a common preposition here. 'At' is more natural.
