There was a farmer had a dog

Could you please explain why in the famous child song "There was a farmer had a dog ...." there is no pronoun "who" ?
Thank you in advance.

It is not formally correct English. Probably "who" was omitted to make the words fit the melody and/or to impart a rustic or folksy feel.
