There should be something to it

I have this helpless urge to pass on maxims to you, things that will see you through. But even the Golden Rule doesn't seem adequate to pass on to a daughter. There should be something added to it.

I'd like to know whether "added" indicates the future, being used in the place of " to be added.

No. There is only a tinge of futurity in the word 'should'.
