There opens?

"There opens a breathtaking view over mountain meadows."

Is this sentence correct? My friend wrote it once, but I want to make sure myself that it is either wrong or correct.

Thanks in advance.

The "there opens" part is fine. I'd expect something to precede "there opens" though. For instance, you could say From the summit, there opens a breathtaking view over mouintain meadows.
