there is [no/not] such a ...

Hi,
I wrote in another post of mine

'there’s no such a need now, because there’s a new plan'

and I suddenly started thinking whether it should be

'there’s not such a need now, because there’s a new plan'

I tried googling in British websites only, and I got 290 occurrences for "there is no such a" and nearly 800 for "there is not such a".
What would a native speaker say?
Cheers!

Either "There is no such need now" OR "There is not such a need now". Both are fine. The first is absolute - there is no need; the second is comparative - there may still be some kind of need.

Your problem is easy to solve. You never say no + a:

I have no book.
I have not a book. / I haven't a book.
I don't have a book.
I haven't got a book.

"there is not such a need" -- 51,700 hits (Is 'hits' the right word??)

"there is no such a need" -- 27,800 hits (Is 'hits' the right word??)

"there is no such need" -- 13,400 hits (Is 'hits' the right word??)

Yes, hits is the right word.

1. there is not such a need -- there is not so much of a need; there is not so much need; there is not so great a need; there is not this kind of need

2. there is no such a need -- mistaken form for there is no such need (in my opinion)

3. there is no such need -- there is no need like this; there is no ne
