There is / are

In the following sentence, is there is/are. Could you explain me the reason of you answer? In my opinion is there are because many is plural, i think.

In British English, if you approve of something, you consider it right, correct, appropriate etc. If you approve (transitive) something, you sanction it, give permission for it.

If you disapprove of something, you consider it to be wrong. It is unusual in British English to disapprove (transitive) [in the sense of 'withhold approval from] something.
