There are two words I want to know in English

Hi! Happy 2006!

There are two words I would like to know how to say in English.

1. When many couples gather together in one day to get marry, there is some kind of people to testimonialize their marriages for them. How do you say this activity in English?

2. A couple are in love very much. When they talk about getting marry, the girl knows the guy does not have much money. The girl's parents told the gril "don't marry to the man because he is not rich enough." How do you describe the parents personality?

"realistic" "practical"??

Thanks,

Lynn
