There are obstacles to reaching his destination.

Dear all,

Please see the sentence "There are obstacles to reaching his destination". Could you please tell me whether we can write it without "to" as "There are obstacles reaching his destination"?

Top answer

cat navy 425 write it without "to" as "There are obstacles reaching his destination"? No, I wouldn't do that. It sounds like the obstacles are moving toward the destination and are about to arrive there, and that doesn't make any sense.
